LaGrange Township is located in south central Lorain County at the intersections of State Route 301 and State Route 303. The Township provides services to the 5,972 residents living in LaGrange Township. Approximately 1,815 of these residents reside inside the Village of LaGrange which is located in the center of LaGrange Township.

The Township operates under Ohio Township Law and is governed by three elected trustees who serve four year terms of office. The elected township clerk manages all finances of the township.

The Township spends the largest portion of it's budget on the Fire and EMS Division which serves both residents of the township and village. Revenues are also used to maintain and operate township roads, cemeteries and parks.
